JINS SESAME STREET Prescription Glasses Come to the US
SESAME STREET is the world’s most famous educational TV program for children, beloved in over 150 countries and regions since its launch in the United States in 1969. For more than 50 years, the program has been committed to addressing social issues and delivering messages that address the beauty and importance of accepting each other’s differences and harmonious living through the use of diverse characters, such as Elmo and Cookie Monster. The program has also been distributed in Japan, and remains popular amongst many people, from children to adults. As a result, this collaboration of JINS and SESAME STREET came to be. It is Japan’s first time seeing prescription glasses collaborate with SESAME STREET. To embrace the world view of SESAME STREET, JINS x SESAME STREET cares not only about design but also being eco-friendly. As a result, the frames are made with an eco-friendly resin containing castor oil from the seeds of the castor bean plant.
Designed for wearing both at home and out and about, the frames feature designs of SESAME STREET friends.
This collaboration features 30 total frames in a range of different shapes and colors: the “at home” frames, designed for relaxing time at home, and the “going out” frames, for your outing wearing your favorite pieces.
The “at home” frames are flexible, emphasizing the comfortableness of being at home, and illustrations and logos of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, and Abby Cadabby are printed on the inside of each temple, as well as messages from SESAME STREET friends on the temple tips.
The “going out” frames have a lineup of frames with hand-drawn illustrations printed on trendy, bold-rimmed frames as a base and frames filled with the daily lives of the characters. The frames portray each character’s worldview, such as by engraving Dorothy (Elmo’s goldfish) on the temple tip, and featuring elements designed as Cookie Monster’s cookies on his character frames. Each frame comes with an original glasses case and cleaning cloth. These different designs from the “at home” and “going out” lineups are waiting for you.
