Erkers1879 has widely expanded their selection of sunglasses, introducing 10 new sunglass designs to their heritage brand. The frames all go through a 48-step manufacturing process in which they are hand polished and handcrafted using high-quality materials, including surgical-grade stainless steel, eco-friendly acetate, and authentic rivets. Each new sunglass model is available in 4 colors, which are designed exclusively for the brand by the Erkers themselves. Of the new sunglasses, there are 4 metal, 3 acetate, and 3 combination models.

The frames from Erkers1879 are primarily designed using classic, timeless shapes blended with a subdued-modern color palette. This summer, the Erkers have branched out to include a handful of brighter, bolder colors. With every release, the Erker family works together to create new color blends, conducting research on the latest and upcoming trends to help inspire their designs. This release features 5 never-seen-before acetate color blends: Spirament, Spritzer, Sky Glitz, Coffee Beans, and Cotton Candy. Spirament and Spritzer are both designed for sunglass model Market, an oversized square-shaped frame with a sharp edge. Tucker, a striking cat-eye frame with an angled cut along the brow, features the remaining three newly-designed colors.

The new sunglasses are all part of the STL Flag collection, featuring a gold emblem of the St. Louis flag on their temple tips and the brand name lightly etched into the lens. Like every release, each frame was named after an area in St. Louis. The sunglasses can be seen throughout the brand’s new video shoot, which highlights the latest additions to STL Flag.

About Erkers1879

Founded in Saint Louis in 1879, the Erkers have dedicated their lives to the craft of beautiful eyewear for 143 years. The family business was taken over by Jack Erker III and brother Tony Erker in 2001, who now work alongside their father, Jack Erker Jr. The family has a rich history, making their mark in the optical industry early on. They opened the first optical laboratory west of the Mississippi River, designed the goggles Charles Lindbergh wore during his flight over the Atlantic, and acted as the main photographer during the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. Erkers1879 is the heritage brand of the wholesale design and manufacturing house, Studio Optyx. In each collection is a story about their past, and each frame is named after one of the many areas throughout St. Louis.
