Loft Launches In Santa Monica
LOFT Eyewear Showa is returning to the West Coast this Fall in a completely new city and venue! The event is relocating to the beach at Santa Monica in a wonderful historic space.
Richard Mewha, founder of LOFT Eyewear Shows, shares his thoughts on the decision: “When looking for a location for our events, we seek spaces that resonate with our design aesthetic and that are conducive to creating an atmosphere that encourages the connections that we so love about these events.”
The Santa Monica Post Office is a landmark building nestled in downtown Santa Monica, just a few blocks from the beachfront. Built in 1938, Santa Monica’s downtown post office boasts a design indicative of the PWA Moderne style. It was a product of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Public Works Administration (PWA) as a key component of the New Deal era, a massive effort to help recovery from the Great Depression by putting Americans to work on public works projects. It was closed along with 200 post offices across the country in 2012 by the United States Postal Service. This magnificent space is now home to the LOFT Eyewear Show event for 2025!
Richard is confident the new event and venue will be well received. “One of our core values for LOFT is going beyond a trade show experience. We feel that the future of these events hinges on creating an environment for not only buying carefully curated eyewear, but also for exchanges of common interests, learning about the creative aspects of individual designers, and of course, having fun while we are at it.”
He continued, “With this in mind, we researched and found this stunning Art Deco space, right in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, close to the beach, great restaurants and hotels. Santa Monica is also a central location for West Coast accounts, with easy access from LAX, and the weather in October should be great.”
LOFT Eyewear Shows are the premier independent luxury eyewear events that have been held annually in New York City, as well as in San Francisco and Las Vegas over the years. Since 2000, the LOFT events have showcased the most exclusive and cutting-edge designers from around the world.
“We have been pioneering a West Coast event for many years now in response to the growing appetite for independent eyewear shows,” said LOFT Marketing Director, Louis Fullagar. “After our extremely successful New York event in March, we discussed with our key partners suitable cities on the West Coast to continue to enhance our presence and independent philosophy.”
“We have all really enjoyed the San Francisco venue and experience but were keen to try something completely new. We are thrilled to be moving to Santa Monica and are already buoyed by the early excitement surrounding this event. We already know our vendors and their customers are very keen for shows like ours that have a completely different and relaxed vibe to the major conference-type traditional events of the past.”
This year’s Santa Monica event will take place over the weekend of October 24-25, 2025 and will be open for an introduction/welcome party on Friday evening, followed by the eyewear show all day on Saturday. There is parking available at the venue and in the surrounding area. As usual, there will be a barista, catering, and afternoon beverages during the event.
