Organisers behind the eyewear trade show, Mido, have announced new dates for 2021, with the event now set to take place in June.

Mido 2021 has now been rescheduled to take place from 5 – 7 June at Fiera Milano.

The decision to move the event back marks another move for the event, from its previously rearranged dates in February 2021.

Event organisers explained their hopes that next summer will be a safer time for exhibitors and visitors to travel between countries, ensuring there will be plenty of international business opportunities at the event.

Mido president, Giovanni Vitaloni, highlighted that, with more than half of the exhibitors and visitors typically attending from 160 countries worldwide, “It seems fairly clear that an international trade show scheduled prior to June could put their participation at risk.”

“Mido 2021 in June is the best choice to get us back to our mission – to organise and maximise the opportunities for international trade, bringing new luster and vitality to this key sector,” Mr Vitaloni continued, as well as celebrating the event’s 50th anniversary “in an atmosphere of regained peace of mind.”

The 50th edition of the trade show was due to have taken place this year between 29 February and 2 March. However, organisers took the decision to postpone the event as Italy struggled to contain an outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The event was first postponed until July 2020, before being reorganised for early 2021 due to the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and its impact on the rest of the world.

Now set to take place in June 2021, the organisers behind Mido confirmed they would spend the time until the new date developing further opportunities to add value to the event.

“Challenging months lie ahead and, despite the pandemic, the Mido machine does not stop or even slow down; on the contrary, intriguing opportunities pop up every day,” the statement concluded.
