CAN SLEEPING LATE DAMAGE YOUR CHILD’S EYE SIGHT

Now I am a parent myself, of course I pay a lot more attention to children’s eye health. This article really caught my attention from NZOptics because it talks about the possibility that children sleeping late causes myopia, or the non-technical term, short sightedness.

For me another interesting point from this article is that the study was conducted in Shanghai. This is interesting because being Chinese myself, my understanding is that most children from that side of the world sleep later compared to children in the west. A 9.30pm bed time is considered early and that is for children who are aged 5 onwards. My daughter is 5 and she is in bed by 7.30pm. I am so interested to see that if this study was done in say Europe, would they get a different result? I think the bottom line is, in general our lifestyle can definitely impact a lot of things about our health.
