ASEAN Optic Industry Strategic Cooperation Signing Ceremony Concludes Successfully

On April 15, the ASEAN Optic Industrial Area Strategic Cooperation Signing Ceremony, jointly organized by BROAD Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. and the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in Thailand was successfully held under the theme *"Forging Future Connections, Uniting for Winning Growth."  Over 70 representatives from government agencies, including the Wenzhou Commerce Bureau, Wenzhou Investment Promotion Bureau, Wenzhou Development and Reform Commission, and Wenzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade, as well as business leaders, attended the event. The ceremony aimed to advance project implementation, deepen on China-ASEAN collaboration in digital economy and industrial manufacturing, and inject of confidence and momentum into the ASEAN Industrial Area initiatively.

Xu Chengsong, CEO of BROAD Exhibition Service Co., Ltd., opened the meeting with a speech titled *"Going Global, Bringing In: Constructing a Resilient Ecosystem through Dual Circulation." He analyzed the RCEP policy framework and ASEAN market potential, emphasizing that amid global economic shifts and deepening regional cooperation, the integration of China-ASEAN industrial and supply chains has become a core strategy to counter unilateral trade barriers (e.g., U.S. tariffs) and drive industrial upgrading. Xu proposed systematically optimizing resource allocation and leveraging regional mechanisms like RCEP to unlock policy dividends. Highlighting the ASEAN Optic Industrial Area, he noted its a end-to-end integration of R&D, manufacturing, and export operations, designed as a "strategic harbor" combining cost efficiency and tariff advantages to facilitate Wenzhou enterprises in global expansion. He stressed that enhancing regional synergy and industrial resilience is critical to mitigating risks and boosting competitiveness.

Wu Jianmin, CEO of Wenzhou Lidong Optic Co., Ltd. and President of the Zhejiang Optical Association, outlined four pillars for ASEAN market entrance:  

1. Talent Alignment: Prioritize team-building and talent reserves.  

2. Tariff Strategy: Develop adaptive policies to navigate tax adjustments.  

3. Market Precision: Implement differentiated product positioning.  

4. Cost Optimization: Strengthen supply chain efficiency.  


Comparing investment environments in Thailand and Vietnam, he advocated for joint ventures and industrial chain collaboration to reduce compliance costs and operational risks. The association pledged to facilitate government-business dialogue, resource matching, and policy guidance while urging enterprises to adopt high-quality, differentiated branding strategies.

- Tax Incentives: Corporate income tax exemptions and full-year reductions in special zones.  

- BOI Privileges: Benefits under the Board of Investment (BOI) and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) initiatives.  

- Land Ownership Rights: Legal guarantees for foreign investors.  

He outlined streamlined processes for area's establishment, BOI approval, and construction permits, encouraging enterprises to capitalize in Thailand's stable legal framework and low 15% corporate tax rate—one of the world’s most competitives.

Qi Xiaoyun, President of the Thailand -Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of  Wenzhou Business Industrial Area in Thailand , reaffirmed full supports for the project, underscoring its significance for Wenzhou's industrial growth. Addressing challenges like tariff wars and trade barriers, he urged enterprises to expand globally and seek international partnerships. Highlighting Thailand's stable environment, Sino-Thai relations, and cultural adaptability, he called for thorough due diligence to local laws and customs while leveraging incentives to seize emerging opportunities.

The launch of the ASEAN Optic Industrial Area marks not only a milestone in commercial cooperation ,but also a tangible action under China-ASEAN Belt and “Road” initiatives to share developmental opportunities. Building on this agreements, stakeholders will joint a new chapter of openness, inclusivity, and mutual prosperity.
